<p>The viremia of HIV in the body fluids of patients having peripheral blood mononuclear cells capable of transmitting HIV virus to non-infected cells upon co-culture is reduced by administration of a pharmaceutical composition containing the pentapeptide thymopentin or an analog or derivative thereof.</p>
