Process comprises (a) pptn. of organic cpds. with calcium hydroxide; (b) removal of excess calcium with sodium carbonate; (c) removal of the ppte.; and (d) opt. adjustment to below pH 12 by addn. of dil. hydrochloric acid. The final soln. of sodium chloride obtd. can be re-used to regenerate ion exchange resins.
