Device for the space-time sub-sampling of digital video signals representative of a sequence of pictures which are interlaced or sequential and are divided into blocks of m x n points (m and n being positive integers), the said device comprising in series a circuit (201) for spatial prefiltering of the said sequence of pictures and intended to deliver a sequence of sequential pictures which are limited in bandwidth, a circuit (203) for spatial sub-sampling, and a time sub-sampling circuit (202), characterised in that it further comprises a motion-estimating stage (204) itself comprising means for delivering, on the one hand, signals corresponding to the pictures of order 2k and 2k + 2 and, on the other hand, signals corresponding to the pictures of order 2k + 1, and motion-estimating means intended to deliver, on the basis of the said signals, one or more items of information on motion of the picture of order 2k + 1 in relation to the pictures of order 2k and 2k + 2 which enclose it. |
