<p>An apparatus (10) and method for wrapping soft chewing gum are disclosed. The apparatus (10) comprises a turret (30) having means (36) to cut the gum (12) into relatively thin rectangular shaped pieces (40). Operatively associated with the turret (30) are means to hold the shaped pieces (40) of gum thereon for transport to a position where each individually shaped piece(40) is placed into a nest (76) on a wrapping tray (50) with a wrapper (86) located therebetween. During placement, a flat side (92) of the shaped piece (40) of gum is urged against the flat bottom (90) of the next (76). The apparatus (10) further comprises means to complete wrapping the wrapper around the piece (40) of gum.</p> |
