PURPOSE:To easily discriminate how the system itself has discriminated a device by displaying a directly a device discrimination number on the system constitution recognized by a host device. CONSTITUTION:A host device stores in advance a physical path, a logical path and a device discrimination number as F/W (firmware) of a slave device. At the time point when the host device is brought to power-on and the initialization is completed, when this device being a slave device is brought to power-on and initialized, a control part 2 informs the physical path and the logical path of its own device through a signal line 4 to the host device, and also, requests a notice of the device discrimination number of the own device to the host device. The host device reads the device discrimination number of this device from the F/W, based on the physical path and the logical path which have been informed from this device, and informs it to this device through the signal line 4. The control part 2 displays the informed device discrimination number on a display part 1. In such a way, a connection error, etc., of an external cable can be detected immediately. |
