PURPOSE:To facilitate character input through simple constitution without providing any shift key by providing a means for converting an input signal from an operated element into a character code, and operating the operated element so that a character or a part of it is drawn. CONSTITUTION:On the console panel of a character input device, an input part 3 where key tops K are arranged in a matrix is provided and a character drawn on this input part 3, or a part of it (right-hand radical of Chinese character, etc.) is converted into a character code signal by an address part, character file, etc., provided therein. This character code signal is displayed on an input display part 1 with a specifying key 4 and further other specifying keys 4 for the left- hand radical, crown part, etc., are operated to display the character on an output display part 2. The character on this display part 2 is converted into another character by operating a conversion key T, access key Q, and keys 4 to display the converted character on the display part 2. Thus, a desired character is inputted without providing any shift key, etc., only by drawing the character or a part of it on a key top K. |
