PURPOSE:To stably obtain traveling durability without sacrificing electromagnetic conversion characteristics and the wear resistance of a head under a wide range of temp. and humidity conditions by incorporating an N,N-dialkyl amide compd. of a specific higher fatty acid into a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The N,N-dialkyl amide compd. of the higher fatty acid expressed by the formula is incorporated into the magnetic layer. In the formula, R is a satd., unsatd., straight chain or branched hydrocarbon group of 13-21C; R', R'' are hydrocarbon groups of 1-22C which are the same or different from each other. Any N,N-dialkyl amide compd. of the higher fatty acid may be selected regardless of whether there is an unsatd. bond or not and anisotropic structures if said compd. is the resultant reaction product of the higher fatty acid and the N,N-dialkyl amide. The N,N-dialkyl amide compd. has the excellent miscibility to a binder and the proper amt. thereof bleeds on the surface, thus providing effective lubrication. The traveling durability is thereby stably obtd. without sacrificing the electromagnetic conversion characteristics and the wear resistance of the head under a wide range of the temp. and humidity conditions. |
