METHOD AND COMPOSITIONS FOR CONTROLLING PAIN, DEPRESSION AND SEDATION

Compositions are disclosed for controlling pain, depression, and sedation. The compositions comprise a serotonin precursor such as L-tryptophan or L-5-hydroxytryptophan in combination with a serotoninspecific reuptake inhibitor such as trazodone. In a preferred embodiment, the compositions are coadministered with a narcotic, the composition substantially potentiating the analgesic effect of the narcotic.
