The appts. is connected to a picture screen, i.e. a VDU or a television receiver, and enables the screen to be viewed with the eyes in the rest position or near to that position. Nearest to the screen (1) is positioned a redn. lens (2) followed by a series of mirror prisms (4) to increase the subjective distance to the viewer (7). This is followed by a magnifying lens (5), a reading surface (6) comprising a mirror, and a prism tube (9) enclosing prisms. The tube is angled so that the screen can be placed in a location which is suitable from safety and service aspects. The tube is rotatable so that, within a given framework, it can be positioned where the viewer requires. Where the appts. is adapted to a road vehicle to enable the instruments on the dashboard to be read without ceasing to view the road ahead, the reading surface comprises the windscreen or a mirror in the lower part of it, or even a photochromic glass in the same position. The numbers of prisms and mirrors used is such that the picture received by the viewer is the right way up.
|
