Method is described for uncoupling a drill string that comprises several sections which are coupled via threaded sleeves. Each rod section is joined to an adapter rod on a drilling machine. A braking device counteracts any relative motion between the first coupling sleeve and the drilling machine. Method is simple and cheap. (Provisional Basic previously advised in Week 8406)
