The contact system uses contacts (55) within the contact zone (12) of the cylinder lock (1) along a guide (50). The key contacts (8) at the rear of the key bit (7) are coupled to electronic components (41) within the lock (1) when the key (2) is turned. The contacts (55), electronic components (41) and a microswitch (42) are mounted on a common printed circuit board (14) fitted into the stator housing (3) of the cylinder lock (1) together with the guide (50). Pref. the contacts (55) comprise pairs of wiper contact springs lying tangentially on either side of the central axis of the key insertion slot.
