SYNTHETIC LUBRICATING OIL

PURPOSE:To provide a synthetic lubricating oil containing an ester synthesized from a specific aliphatic polyhydric alcohol and a specific alpha-branched fatty acid and having excellent thermal oxidation stability, hydrolysis resistance and low-temperature fluidity. CONSTITUTION:The objective synthetic lubricating oil contains an ester synthesized from (A) an aliphatic polyhydric alcohol having >=1 secondary hydroxyl group and <=2 primary hydroxyl groups [preferable example; the compound of formula I (n is 0-20)] and (B) an alpha-branched fatty acid expressed by the formula II (R is 4-20C alkyl). The ester exhibits a kinetic viscosity of preferably 10-500cst at 40 deg.C and keeps the fluidity even after maintaining at -30 deg.C for 24hr.
