PURPOSE:To apply a plug into a heat-transfer pipe generating a leakage of fluid, close the pipe and enable a repairing of the pipe to be carried out without pulling out the heat-transfer pipe of an intermediate heat exchanger from a container of a nuclear reactor by a method wherein a plug having a specified shape and size and a pipe expanding mechanism are provided, the plug is inserted into the heat-transfer pipe in which a leakage of fluid occurs and then the pipe expanding mechanism is operated. CONSTITUTION:Within a pipe-like plug 31 longer than a heat-transfer pipe 22 and having one end closed is mounted a pipe expanding mechanism 32 in a space equal to a space between an upper pipe plate 21 and a lower pipe plate 20. A plug 31 is inserted into the heat-transfer pipe 22 judged to show a leakage occurred from outside a container 1 of a reactor in a remote operation. The pipe expanding mechanism 32 installed near upper and lower ends within the plug 31 with a space between the upper pipe-plate 21 and the lower pipe-plate 20 is operated, a specified location of the plug 31 is expanded and press contacted with an opening each of the pipe-plates 20 and 21 of the heat-transfer pipe 22. With this arrangement, upper and lower openings of the heat-transfer pipe are closed, resulting in that a breakage or damage of a barrier between primary and secondary sodiums is repaired at a completion of closing operation. |
