PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously obtain the subject compound useful as an insecticide, etc., by hydroxylating methyl group at the 12-position according to a method for culturing a microorganism of the genus Amycolata, etc., using specific milbemycins having the methyl group at the 12-position as a substrate, etc. CONSTITUTION:A microorganisms, belonging to the genus Amycolata, Absidia or Cunninghamella and capable of converting milbemycins expressed by formula I (X is H, OH or oxo; Y is methyl, ethyl, ispropyl, sec-butyl, 1-methyl-1-propenyl, 1-methyl-1-butenyl, etc.; Z is OH or hydroxyimino) as a substrate into a compound expressed by formula II is cultured in a culture medium containing the compounds expressed by formula I as the substrate or the compounds expressed by formula I are brought into contact with cultured microbial cells of the microorganisms or an enzymic extract solution and converted into the compound expressed by formula II, which is then collected to afford the aimed compound. |
