A hydraulically and mechanically actuable drum brake, in particular for the rear wheels of a motor vehicle, is provided with two, in forward motion, trailing brake shoes connected to one another via a joint, between which brake shoes at least one hydraulic wheel brake cylinder is active, which is fixed to an anchor plate and, on the side facing away from its actuating piston, forms a fixed stop for the associated first brake shoe, and furthermore with a force-transmitting linkage which extends parallel to the longitudinal axis of the wheel brake cylinder, is supported by one end on a handbrake lever articulated pivotably on the second brake shoe and by the other end on the first brake shoe.
