<p>PURPOSE: To completely eliminate the necessity of an operator passing an article in a scanner and to nearly eliminate the necessity by automatically passing the article in a scanning area and reading the bar code of each article, regardless of the direction. CONSTITUTION: This device has a pull-in conveyor belt 16 and a scan area conveyor 18 carrying an article by a scan geometry reading all the six surfaces of a box-shaped article to a scan area 20 where a laser scanning line is generated. Further, the device has an exit storage place 24 for packing the article read in an exit conveyor; the scan area 20 in a bag and a display 26 for showing the article to a customer. Article gates 28 and 30 are arranged the entrance tip part and the exit tip part of the scan area, respectively, a scanner becomes possible to operate when the article passes the first article gate 28 and stops to operate when the article is read. Thus, the scanner becomes possible to operate again when the already read article leaves the scan area 20 and passes the exit article gate 30 and the next article passes the entrance article gate 28.</p> |
