Column press for large eccentric loads and dampening of the cutting shock

The press, which is actuated by means of pressure media has at least two piston/cylinder units which are arranged in the lower part of the press. The press crown is fastened by means of a locking device to the upper piston rods of the cylinder. Releasing the locking device can cause the press crown to move via the rapid-stroke cylinder into the operating position and to be non-positively connected to the piston rods. Relieving of the lower piston surface causes the generation of a pressing force. Control valves can be used to gain control of eccentric loads and dampening of the cutting shock in an optimum fashion in the lower cylinder chamber. The inclined position between the press lower part and the press crown can be kept within narrow predetermined limits. The piston/cylinder units contain the pressing force, dampening, rapid motion, holding-parallel and pulling-off cylinders and the guide and clamp for the press crown.
