The invention relates to a method and a device for more easily exchanging windscreens. In comparison to the prior art this invention is characterised in that the sealing compound is cut by a multiplicity of wires rather than by an individual wire or a plastic monofilament. Each of these wires only cuts a small portion of the entire cross-section. This requires less force for the cutting-through. Use can therefore be made also of thinner wires which, in turn, require less force for cutting the sealing compound.
