<p>The system includes a refrigerant vapour condenser and a liquid refrigerant evaporator. Vapour formed in the evaporator is passed to a reciprocating compressor and then to the condenser, and the vapour passage is controlled by an adjustable expansion valve, which is responsive to a control signal from a microcomputer. The control signal is a function of the superheat of refrigerant passing from the evaporator to the compressor, and of the rate of change of such superheat. The signal acts through a digitally controllable bipolar electric stepper motor.</p> |
