PURPOSE:To obtain high sensitivity and contrasty characteristics by short-time development by regulating the total amt. of org. substances present in hydrophilic colloidal layers after development to <=90wt.% of that before development.] CONSTITUTION:When a photographic sensitive material having at least one silver halide emulsion layer on the support is developed with an automatic developing machine, development is carried out so that org. substances such as gelatin, a matting agent, a plasticizer and a synthetic polymer present in the emulsion layer and other hydrophilic colloidal layer are washed away by >=10wt.% of the total amt. before passing through developing, fixing, washing and drying stages. High sensitivity is obtd. by short-time development. |
