Hydrocarbon gas purification from hydrogen - sulphide using alkylene oxides

Gaseous hydrocarbon is led through an alkylene oxide in presence of bis-(beta-hydroxyalkyl)-sulphide, whereby alkylene oxide reacts with H2S contaminant with production of bis-(beta-hydroxyalkyl)- sulphides. Process enables 100% purification of gaseous hydrocarbons together with production of bis-(beta-hydroxyalkyl)--sulphides useful for polymer lubricant additive, plasticiser and surface active agent manufacture.
