METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROCESSING CELL IMAGE

PURPOSE:To obtain cell image parameters even if many pieces of cell exist by leading out cell identification codes, corresponding original images and the identification codes by each of respective picture elements and reading out the same at the time of edge tracing of the cell images. CONSTITUTION:The cell images picked up by a color camera are stored as the original images and the edge detection information of the cells from the images formed by binarizing the same is led out for each of the picture elements. The edges of the cells are traced with an image processor board 20 by referring thereto. The cell identification codes to identify of which cells the respective edge points are and to indicate which side of the edge points is the outside of the cells are led out at this time. The cell numbers read from the cell identification codes when the respective picture elements are decided to be the edges on the beginning point side of the cells when viewed from the image scan direction of each one picture element are latched and the image data is totalized and processed by each of the numbers. The latch of the cell numbers is cleared when the picture elements are likewise decided to be the edges on the end point side. The cell numbers are thus specified by each of the cells and the cell image parameters are determined.
