<p>MULTIPLEXED REAL-TIME PYRAMID SIGNAL PROCESSING SYSTEM An improved apparatus, for use in a Burt Pyramid or filter-subtract-decimate type analyzer or synthesizer (Fig. 3), reduces the amount of hardware needed to carry out its function. The apparatus operates with a given sampled, temporal signal (Go or L'O...G'M) such as a video signal, representing an n-dimensional information component. The improved apparatus comprises a multiplexed (synthesizer or analyzer) stage (303x or 328x) to respond, in accordance with each of repetitively generated sets of time synchronized serially-occurring control signals, to a serial stream of samples of a predetermined number of subspectra (GO...Gm) of the given signal, the samples being arranged in a predetermined temporal order format with respect to each other.</p> |
