PURPOSE:To manufacture a stable liquid-joined-type semiconductor electrode by coating a semiconductor with a film of high polymer or clay in which redox agent is dispersed. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor is coated with a film of high polymer or clay in which at least one redox agent, such as ruthenium complex and manganese complex, is dispersed, by which a stabilized liquid-joined-type semiconductor electrode is manufactured. Moreover, as the high polymer film, the films of naphion, polystyrene sodium sulfonate, etc., are used, and kaolin, montmorillonite, etc., are used as the above clay, and further, the thickness of the coating film is regulated to about 0.1-500mu. When this liquid-joined-type semiconductor electrode is used independently and immersed in an electrolytic solution together with counter electrode, it is necessary to apply visible rays while impressing a voltage of -0.7-+1.0V(vs.NHE) on the liquid-joined-type semiconductor electrode. |
