PURPOSE:To obtain an optical memory element which allows both-face recording and has high reliability to recording and preserving of information without using an adhesive agent by constituting a mixture formed by mixing optical memory material powder into substrate material powder to the outside shape having the thickness at which both-face recording is possible. CONSTITUTION:The optical memory material of the optical memory element 2 includes the optical memory material which causes (1) a change of the crystal phase to the amorphous state or causes (2) a change of the crystal grain size of the crystal phase to respectively cause the change of the light reflectivity when the material is heated to a prescribed temp. or above by irradiation of laser light and is then rapidly cooled; more specifically, said material includes GeTe, InSe, InTe, In2Te3, Sb2Te3, Ge-Sb-Te, Ge-In-Te, In-Se-Tl-Co, etc., which are of a chalcogenide system for the former (1) and InSb, Se-In-Sb, etc., for the latter (2). The powder of such optical memory material and the material powder of the substrate are mixed and the body part 4 is molded by injection molding. A protective film 6 consisting of silicon oxide, etc., is coated over the entire outside peripheral face of the body part 4. The reliability is thereby improved. |
