PURPOSE:To increase a total printing speed by lessening a time required for a printer head to move from a printing end position of a current line to a printing start position of a subsequent line. CONSTITUTION:A program is stored in ROM 2, and according to this program, CPU 1 controls a printer head 6, a space motor 7, an LF motor, etc., and conducts printing while selecting a printing direction of a subsequent line. Based on the relationship between a printing left-end position and a printing right-end position of the subsequent line and the printing right-end position (in the case of a normal-direction printing) of a current line, and in consideration of a time required for moving to a printing start position so as to print the subsequent line in the normal direction, a time required for moving to a printing start position so as to conduct printing in the reverse direction and further a time required for starting a new line in conformity with the current line, the direction of printing of the subsequent line is determined so that the printing can be executed in the shortest time. Therefore, a total printing speed can be improved. |
