PURPOSE:To detect the one-dimensional position of a subject in the viewfield at a high speed and with high accuracy, by totalizing the picture data within a region set previously in the viewfield and in the direction rectangular to the position detecting axis. CONSTITUTION:When the picture data within a region set previously is supplied, an adder 2 reads the storage values concerning an X address out of a memory 1 and adds them. Then the adder 2 stores the result of addition to the memory again. Therefore the memory 1 stores the result obtained from totalization carried out in the direction Y. When all additions are through within the set region, the result of additions is supplied to a decider 3 from the memory 1. Then the position of a subject is detected. |
