A set point is specified for the rotational speed on the control of electric motors on offset printing presses. In the event that the main voltage is inadequate this specified set point for the rotational speed is reduced as a function of the main voltage measured. Moreover, provision is also made for reducing the set point for the rotational speed if the electric motor or the control elements of the electric motor exceed a certain temperature or if the permissible momentary demand is exceeded.
