PURPOSE:To carry out printing in a specified recording density, by a method wherein a corresponding drive information is read out of a storage means on the basis of an instruction and a manual scan speed given from an instruction means and a recording head is driven on the basis of the information in a recording operation. CONSTITUTION:The state of a density switch 29 is checked, and when an ordinary printing mode is specified, a printing speed is determined on the basis of a value of TMR of RAM 6, while a heat pulse width is determined on the basis of the determined printing speed with reference to a table of a table 5-1. When the density switch 29 is ON, i.e. printing in a high density is specified, the printing speed is calculated and the heat pulse width is determined with reference to the table of the table 5-1. A time of the determined heat pulse width is set in a timer 7, a heat signal 20 is turned ON, electrification of a thermal head 17 is started, and thereby printing by thermal transfer is executed. A pulse of the heat signal 20 corresponding to the density switch 29 and the printing speed is outputted, and the thermal head 17 is driven thereby so that a desired printing density can be obtained. |
