PURPOSE:To provide the subject composite fiber having a sheath-core composite structure containing a specific polyester as a core component and a specific polyamide as a sheath component, having excellent adhesivity to rubber, elastic modulus and dimensional stability and suitable as a rubber-reinforcing material. CONSTITUTION:The objective composite fiber has a sheath-core composite structure composed of (A) 30-95wt.% of a core component composed mainly of ethylene terephthalate and having an intrinsic viscosity of >=0.8, a birefringence of >=160X10<-3>, a density of >=1.395g/cm<3> and a peak temperature of melting curve of >=274 deg.C measured by DSC and (B) 70-5wt.% of a sheath component consisting of a polyamide composed of polytetramethylene adipamide having a relative viscosity of >=3.0 (in sulfuric acid), a birefringence of >=55X10<-3>, a density of >=1.170g/cm<3> and a peak temperature of melting curve of >=280 deg.C measured by DSC. |
