PURPOSE:To reduce powder consumption and to enable recording of high quality which has little tailing and density irregularity by a method wherein a size of each minute heating element of a thermal head is so constructed that a recording paper feed direction width is made narrower than a line direction width. CONSTITUTION:A heating element 201c is formed on a substrate 201a so that a length L in recording paper feed direction (sub scanning direction) is shorter than a length l in a line direction (main scanning direction). This apparatus executes recording of one line by repeating recording by the same image signal a plurality of times, feeding the recording paper at a pitch corresponding to the sub scanning direction. When the heating element 201c is made to be of an above-mentioned dimensional relation, thermal responsibility becomes good, influence of heat accumulation energy decreases, and a tailing phenomenon in transfer time from a black dot to a white dot is reduced. Further, since an area of the heating element narrows, the thermal responsibility is improved, and an amount of electricity for obtaining the same energy is preferably less. Furthermore, recording density which is homogeneous and near maximum density can be obtained. |
