PURPOSE:To provide a covering layer with a good sense of touching in an arrangement where covering layer consisting of soft urethane foam is formed at the periphery of a ring core, by allowing dispersion of the hardness at the whole circumference of the covering layer in the ring part to range below a certain value. CONSTITUTION:In a steering wheel W where a covering layer 14 consisting of soft urethane foam is formed by reactive injection molding not only at the periphery of a core 13 in the ring part 3 but also at the periphery of a core 12 in the spoke part 2, the dispersion of the hardness (JISA code) of this covering layer 14 shell range below 8 degrees. That is, the hardness of the covering layer 14 is made approx. uniform to provide approx. uniform sense of touching throughout the circumference when the ring part 3 is grasped, and thus the sensor of touching the ring part 3 is made fine. Manufacture of such steering wheels W is made by molding by the use of a die in which an even number of gates 21b are arranged in the circumferential direction of the covering layer in the ring part in its molding positions, and thereby the molding material is dispersed in good distribution. |
