[Also in Division E2] Furniture panels (1) are supported one by the other by means of an assembly comprising an elongate member with a pair of longitudinal slots or recesses (2, 3), (Figs. 1, 2, not shown) a first panel engaged with an edge in one of the recesses, and a resilient bent plate member (10-12) (Fig. 4, not shown) frictionally engaged in the other recess to anchor a support member for a second panel. In one embodiment (Figs. 3, 5, not shown), two panels (1) are engaged in one recess of an associated pair of elongate members and are interconnected at right angles by an L-shaped, L-section brace member (5-8) having its arms frictionally retained, one in each second recess by means of the resilient member (10-12). In another embodiment (Figs. 9-11, not shown) a shelf panel (18) is supported at its corners on brackets (19, 21) anchored in a recess (2) by a resilient member (10-12). In a further embodiment (Figs. 6-8, not shown) hinge members (15, 17) are anchored within respective recesses (2) of a pair of elongate members respectively secured to a door (16) and a fixed, frame panel (14). |
