In a device for preparing food, in particular roasting, there is a roasting shelf 2 in which there is a heat source 3. The roasting shelf consists of a metal plate in which an upper layer 4 is made of a ceramic, while the rest of the plate 5 is made of a metal with better heat conduction than the ceramic of the upper layer.
