PURPOSE:To suppress the degree of deterioration of a subject image detection signal obtained from an image sensor into a prescribed permissible range and to securely detect a focus position by controlling the image plane speed in the period wherein a charge storage type photodetecting element is in charge storing operation. CONSTITUTION:The image plane moving speed S of an image plane 12 is determined by an image plane moving speed determining means 22 according to the charge storage time T of the charge storage type photodetecting element of the image sensor so that the degree of deterioration of subject image detection signals S1A and S1B due to the image plane 12 during the charge storing operation of the charge storage type photodetecting element is within the prescribed permissible range. Then the driving speeds of photographic optical system driving means 25 and 30 are controlled according to the image plane moving speed S which is determined as mentioned above and image plane movement quantity information S21 supplied from a lens information means 31 to move the image plane 12 at the image plane moving speed S determined by the image plane moving speed determining means 22. Consequently, stable automatic focus adjusting operation is performed. |
