<p>PURPOSE: To prevent the passage of air, water and other contaminant by forming a composite material containing blocked multifilament fibers and a polymer matrix material for making a fluid impermeable in a thickness direction. CONSTITUTION: In a tubular article 1 having a fabric layer 3 and a low density polyethylene matrix 5, the fabric layer 3 comprises, for example, a 2×2 twilled fabric having warp yarns of heat-shrinkable high density polyethylene fibers 7 extending in the circumferential direction of the article 1 and warp yarns of heat-stable fibers 9 extending along the length direction of the article 1. The heatstable fibers 9 comprises multifilament glass bundles blocked by an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer. Multifilament fibers 10 having filaments 11 are blocked by a polymer material 12. By this constitution, the passage of a fluid in the thickness direction of the article and the passage of the fluid or steam along the fibers of the fabric layer can be substantially prevented.</p> |
