PURPOSE:To improve reactivity with slag, oxidation resistance and spalling resistance in a refractory comprising alumina as a main component for hot melt process or smelting, by using alumina as spherical particles. CONSTITUTION:Alumina aggregate of alumina-silicon carbide-carbonaceous refractory applicable to containers of hot melt process or smelting comprises 7-50wt.% based on total alumina of spherical particles, has 0.3-5mm particle size and a chemical composition thereof of Al2O3>=80% and SiO2<=11%. Packing properties of refractory becomes dense by thus using the alumina aggregate instead of existing crushed type alumina having parted parts or acute parts or by partially replacing the existing alumina with the spherical alumina into spherical particles. Consequently, apparent porosity of refractory and pore diameter become small, oxidation resistance is improved and durability is enlarged. |
