PURPOSE:To improve detection accuracy of the limits of regions and to improve image quality of reproduced images by dividing a radiation image into many small regions according to image data, unifying the small regions which have similarity and obtaining the characteristic values for the obtained plural regions. CONSTITUTION:The radiographic image 21 composed of an object part 22, a direct radiation part 23 and a scattered line part 24 is divided into the many small regions (e.g. the parts surrounded by a short dashed line) in response to the value of the image data (S). Then, the similarity between the two small regions is evaluated based on the data S corresponding to the adjacent small regions, and when the regions have similarity, the regions are unified into one small region, and the similarity between the unified region and the adjacent small region is evaluated, and such evaluation is repeated over all the regions of the image 21, and the many small regions are unified into the plural regions which are not similar to each other. Then, more than one characteristic values of the data S are obtained by the region, and the object part 22 is recognized by the characteristic values. |
