PURPOSE:To lower light power for recording and erasing and to improve the life of the above recording medium by providing a light absorptive layer consisting of specific compds. and a diffusion preventive layer between a medium layer and the light absorptive layer. CONSTITUTION:This optical recording medium is constituted by successively laminating a protective layer 2, the medium layer 3, the diffusion preventive layer 7, the light absorptive layer 6, and a protective film 4 on a substrate 1. The light absorptive layer 6 consists of at least one kind of PbSe and PbTe. Polycarbonate is unsable as the substrate 1, SiO2 as the protective layer 2, InTe as the medium layer 3, AlN as the diffusion preventive layer 7 and SiO2 as the protective layer 4. The initial state is formed by projecting laser light to the medium layer 3 to crystallize said layer. The absorption coefft. of the PbSe or PbTe of the absorptive layer 6 is larger than the absorption coefft. of the InTe of the medium layer 3 and has a high m.p. The light energy is thus efficiently absorbed by the absorptive layer 6 and is converted to heat which is transmitted to the medium layer 3. |
