PURPOSE:To facilitate meshing of a counter gear by rotatably fitting an intermediate shaft to the outer periphery of an input shaft connected with a torque converter and rotatably supported at a specified fixing part, and further rotatably fitting the gear on the outer periphery of the intermediate shaft. CONSTITUTION:An input shaft 6 is supported at its one end by a rear case 11 independent from a transmission case 10, so an inclination may be generated by a positional difference in mounting the rear case 11. Since a counter drive gear 14 is supported by the shaft 6 through two bearings 17, 19 and an intermediate shaft 15, the gear 14 displaces to absorb the difference with external force even if a slight inclination is generated at the shaft 6 as the respective bearings 17, 18 have slight clearance (looseness). As a result, meshing of the gear 14 with the gear 30 is improved so as to restrain generation of noise or oscillations.
