NEW MATERIAL:2,7-Tetramethyldiamino-1-hydroxy-anthrone of formula I. USE:A color developer for recording materials. When heated in a pale tone, it develops black to green color. Since the color-developed image have the absorption peak at 700-900nm in a near infrared zone, it is suitably used as a recording material for optical character readers. PREPARATION:The dehydrative condensation reaction of p-aminobenzaldehyde of formula II and m-aminobenzoic acid derivative of formula III (R<1>-R<4> is alkyl) gives 3-(p-aminophenyl)-6-aminophthalide derivative. Then, the product is reduced, subjected to dehydrative condensation to give the anthrone derivative of formula IV. The anthrone is dissolved in acetic acid, neutralized with sodium hydroxide to give the compound of formula I. |
