PURPOSE:To express the input level of an image signal in all of the bits by utilizing effectively and to heighten resolution by performing the automatic control of conversion sensitivity at the optimum value corresponding to the input level of the image signal. CONSTITUTION:At a means 10, the image signal generated by photographing is converted to a digital signal. At a means 12, the peak value of the image signal is retrieved from the digital signal from the means 10. Furthermore, the conversion sensitivity of the means 10 is controlled in a direction in which the peak value obtained by the means 12 coincides with the upper limit value of the digital signal by a means 14. |
