Method and arrangement for error recognition in binary data words

The data words, which are provided with control bits which are derived by partial parity formation, are submitted on the receiving side to a pure parity check, for fast error recognition, while doing without the possibility of error correction which is given by evaluation of these control bits. This handling by groups enables all odd-numbered errors and a high percentage of even-numbered errors to be recognised.
