The invention relates to a method as well as to three different ways of carrying out the method of drawing off unconcentrated, liquid hydrocarbons and fuels with the floating suction system I. The concentrated liquid hydrocarbons are drawn off with the floating suction system Ia. The floating suction system Ib has the task of sucking up the solid substances which have sunk to the bottom. Several identical floating suction systems coupled together result in wide suction areas. The number of suction systems is increased by extending the individual floating suction systems. Curved to circular suction areas are obtained through the use of additional couplings (7). The liquid-control slide (15) is fitted in the suction systems 4, 9, 5, 10. The adjusting ring (20) is pushed in the same suction systems over the wide suction slots, is set according to the film thickness of the liquids to be drawn off and is clamped in place by means of locking screws. <IMAGE>
