Fluorinated nitroalkyl compounds of the formula <IMAGE> are prepared by reacting a fluoronitroalkane of the formula <IMAGE> with alpha ,ss-unsaturated compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in the presence of alumina. (The symbols used in the above formulae have the meaning indicated in the description).
