<p>A polarizing film having an excellent polarizing ability and heat and moisture resistances, which comprises an oriented polyvinyl alcohol film having adsorbed thereon iodide and containing a zirconium compound or a manganese compound. The zirconium compound or manganese compound is thought to prevent dissociation of a polyiodide ion such as I3- or I5- capable of providing the polarizing ability. This polarizing film is expected to find applications in many liquid crystal displays, etc. ranging from those which are to be used in severe environments, such as automobile parts, to word processors to be used in ordinary homes.</p> |
