PRODUCTION CIRCUIT FOR TRACKING ERROR SIGNAL

PURPOSE:To equalize the influence of deterioration of the picture quality due to the S/N deterioration of a pair of heads having an attachment error of the width direction by defining the mean value of the time difference signals obtained at output of the maximum value of each head as the reference value. CONSTITUTION:A reference value production circuit 113 calculates the mean value of addition of the time difference signals 110 set at each maximum value of the output signal reproduced by each head and delivers a reference value signal 114. A track error arithmetic circuit 112 calculates a difference signal between the signal 110 supplied from a time difference detecting circuit 109 and the reference value supplied from the circuit 113 to output a tracking error 115. Thus it is possible to eliminate the influence of the attachment error between a pair of heads set in the width direction and furthermore to allocate equally the deterioration of the reproduction output signal due to the attachment error to each head even with a pair of heads having an attachment error in the width direction. As a result the influence of deterioration of the picture quality due to the S/N deterioration can be equalized.
