<p>PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of contact between anaerobic microorgan- isms and waste water, by providing a fixed bed having supports to which the anaerobic microorganisms are liable to attach and which are placed randomly therein in a reaction tank for receiving the waste water through its bottom and outflowing the purified water through it top. CONSTITUTION:The waste water 1 being flowed upstream into a reaction tank 2 by a raw water supply pump 3 is sent from the bottom to the top thereof while in contact with the anaerobic microorganisms attached to a fixed bed 4 so as to undergo the decomposition of the organic substances. The water 6 thus purified is discharged out of a treatment device from the upper part of the reaction tank 2 through a siphon 5. The fixed bed, with the supports 8 provided randomly therein, produces a turbulant flow against the water stream in the reaction tank 2 to prevent the disruption of the water flow therein, thereby enhancing the efficiency of contact between the waste water 1 and the anaerobic microorganisms. Furthermore, the fixed bed 4 exerts a filtering effect to thereby prevent the outflowing of the anaerobic microorganisms.</p> |
