<p>Polyester fiberfill is provided with a slickener coating of an improved copolyester, the improvements being that the copolyester is modified so as to contain polar groups that provide sites that are susceptible to a cross-linking-type reaction, e.g. hydroxyl groups and quaternary ammonium and amine groups, and the resulting materials that have been subjected to such cross-linking-type reaction, whereby the durability of the coating on the fiberfill is improved in comparison with like but unmodified copolymers, and wherein other advantages are obtained. As cross-linking agents are mentioned: polycarboxylic acid, N-hydroxymethyl compounds or polyvalent metal compounds.</p> |
