PURPOSE:To obtain the title complex which shows a strong absorption in a near-infrared or infrared region and is useful for coloration of a low-molecular substance, such as a liquid crystal, and a sheet, fiber, etc. formed from a synthetic high-molecular substance, by using a compound of a specified formula. CONSTITUTION:This naphthoquinone charge-transfer complex comprises a compound of formula I [wherein R1 is H, (substituted)alkyl, allyl, phenyl, naphthyl or aralkyl; R4 and R5 are each H, halogen or CN; R6 is H or NO2]. This compound can be obtained by mixing a compound of formula II (wherein R1, R2, and R3 are as defined above) and a compound of formula III (wherein R4, R5, and R6 are as defined above) in an organic solvent. This complex shows absorption spectra over a wide wavelength range from a visible light region to an infrared region; therefore, it is useful as coloring matter for coloration of a low-molecular substance, such as a liquid crystal, and a sheet, a fiber, etc. formed from a synthetic high-molecular substance. It is also useful as coloring matter for a near-infrared absorptive optical recording medium, a sensitizer for an organic photoreceptor in electrophotography, coloring matter for thermal and pressure-sensitive recording, a sensitizer for an organic photoreceptor for a laser printer, etc. |
